How-to Guide: Dress Up Your Drink Selfies for Halloween

Emily AlvesOctober 16, 2025

Spooky season is here! Besides cute dressed up kids, parties, and going door to door for candy (depending on your country), these monster cocktails created with the Halloween Frames on the Ripples WebApp are a big reason why I love this holiday.

As Ripples’ resident barista/bartender and chief trainer, I’ve been hard at work “testing these designs” by turning my colleagues at the office into witches or pumpkin heads and surprising them with a drink topped with their own photo all dressed up for Halloween. The whole process only takes me a few extra seconds – making a latte or pouring a beer is the longest step. The Ripples WebApp and the Ripple Maker drink printer make it so easy to add some Halloween magic to drinks at the office and they’re the perfect way to transform your Halloween menu offerings.

What is the Ripples WebApp?

The Ripples WebApp is an easy tool that lets you and your customers create and send designs to be printed with the Ripple Maker drink printer on a beer, cocktail, or coffee. Add custom images to your drink in real-time. No download required, and your customers’ pictures will be automatically deleted within the hour. And it’s a huge boon to business. Customizable content has been proven to go viral (check out Costa Coffee’s Olympic Village activation) and gives your customers a reason to order another round.

What are Ripples Frames?

Technically speaking, frames are transparent PNG files that can be superimposed over a jpeg. So what’s that mean? You can add a holiday message, a border design, your own logo, or in this case, a creepy/fun Halloween costume, on top of a picture. It’s the easiest way to add one-of-a-kind customization to your customers’ selfies – in real-time, no AI required.

And what’s the Ripples Drink Printer?

Just in case we have anyone new here: The Ripple Maker drink printer is a compact, counter-top sized device that lets you add any design (you heard me say you can turn your boss into a pumpkin head, right?) to the top of a foam-topped drink or smooth, individually portioned dessert. It uses a mix of inkjet and 3D technology and plant-based extracts. It’s the perfect way to get an edge over the competition whether you’re a restaurant, caterer, or are promoting your new movie.

Create the Perfect Halloween Selfie Drink with the Ripples WebApp— No Costume Required!

Serve up a ghoulishly good time for your patrons with a personalized experience right on their drinks! All with the Ripples WebApp. This is the exact process your customers will use to make their own witchy or ghoulishly handsome selfie.

Step 1: Open the Ripples WebApp and select “drinks” to create a single, full-diameter design.

Step 2: Select “Create my Own” to use your own picture for your Halloween monster design.

Step 3: Select “Add Photo” to open your camera roll and choose a picture.

Step 4: Pinch your photo with two fingers to move or resize, and then it’s time for the fun part! Select the frame icon at the top of the page.

Step 5: Choose a Halloween Frame. Adjust your uploaded photo fit inside your spooky frame. Like how it looks?
Tap “Let’s Print”!

Step 6: You did it! Order your drink with your server and tell them your number for the Ripples Mobile Queue

Try it for yourself! Make your own spooktacular selfie to print on your next drink!

Ready to make your own ghoulishly good selfie print? If you’re near a venue with a Ripple Maker, or in a major city in the US or Europe, visit webapp.drinkripples.com on your mobile device to use the live WebApp and really get your picture printed on a beer or a cocktail. If you don’t have a Ripple Maker within a couple kilometers, consider getting one!

Transforming selfies with Ripples Frames can be a huge boon for your business. You can boost the experience onsite with fun designs to enhance customer photos (tune in next month for some November-themed mustaches, followed closely behind by a certain jolly green elf), or by adding your own logo to every customer photo that’s printed so you can capitalize on every social share.
