When you step into Pink Dot, one of Thessaloniki’s most recognizable cafés, you immediately feel like it belongs in a fairy tale. From floral walls and oversized pink hearts to elegant Italian teacups and personalized coffees, every detail has been carefully designed to make guests smile before they even take their first sip.
For founder Angeliki Hondos, the vision has always been much bigger than serving coffee.
“Pink is much more than a color,” she explains. “It is an attitude, an emotion, and a way of seeing life with optimism.”
That philosophy has shaped everything about Pink Dot – including the decision to use the Ripple Maker coffee printer to transform ordinary coffees into memorable moments guests love to photograph, share, and remember.
Creating a café straight out of a fairy tale
Pink Dot was inspired by a visit to London in 2019. While traveling, Angeliki discovered a pink-themed café that completely captivated her. She returned to Greece determined to create something equally magical.
“Pink Dot was born from a passion for beauty, creativity, and positive energy,” she says.
Rather than simply opening another brunch café, she wanted to build a place where guests could leave everyday worries behind and immerse themselves in an atmosphere filled with beauty, romance, and optimism.
“Our philosophy is simple: to create memorable experiences that uplift people’s mood through beautiful surroundings, unique flavors, and thoughtful details.”

Every detail tells part of the story
Walking into Pink Dot, it’s immediately clear that nothing was chosen by accident. Every corner has been designed with intention because, as the founder explains, “the spaces we create are a reflection of who we are.”
One of the café’s most beloved features is its floral dining nook – affectionately known as “the cave.” Surrounded by flowers, it comfortably seats six guests and has become a favorite location for birthdays, baby showers, and celebrations.
Another signature feature is Pink Dot’s oversized pink heart installations. Originally created as Valentine’s Day decorations, they quickly became such recognizable symbols of the café that they never came down.
Even the teacups tell part of the story. Imported from Italy and designed by Easy Life Italy, they became so popular with guests that Pink Dot now sells matching gift sets so visitors can take a piece of the experience home.
Even the recently renovated restrooms continue the theme, featuring pink onyx, floral accents, and the same dreamy aesthetic found throughout the café.
“At Pink Dot, we never stop evolving,” she says. “We constantly refresh, redesign, and reinvent ourselves.”
More than coffee, it’s a mood
Every design decision supports one goal: “I want every guest who visits Pink Dot to leave feeling happier than when they arrived.”
For the team, hospitality is about creating a joyful escape where people celebrate birthdays, reconnect with friends, slow down for a while, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
“Pink Dot is designed to be more than a café,” she says. “It’s a place where people can reconnect with positivity, beauty, and the simple joy of living in the moment.”
Finding the perfect finishing touch
Interestingly, the Ripple Maker latte printer also entered the story because of London.
During the same trip that inspired Pink Dot, the founder ordered a coffee with a personalized coffee print on top.
“I remember thinking, ‘I absolutely need this machine at Pink Dot.'”
When she returned to Greece, she immediately searched for the Ripple Maker drink printer and was thrilled to discover it was available locally. Later, seeing the technology used in luxury destinations and five-star hotels confirmed she had made the right decision.
Today, Pink Dot prints not only coffees but also macarons, adding another personalized surprise guests don’t expect.

Giving guests a reason to come back
One reason the Ripple Maker drink printer continues to delight guests years after it was introduced is that the designs never stay the same.
Throughout the year, Pink Dot constantly updates its artwork to reflect the seasons. Summer brings palm trees, surfboards, and “Summer Vibes.”. Autumn introduces Halloween artwork. Christmas features festive messages and holiday illustrations. Spring welcomes Easter bunnies and colorful seasonal designs.
“Because the designs are always changing, the experience never feels repetitive,” she explains. “Guests look forward to seeing what will appear on their coffee each time they visit.”
That constant variety has helped make printed drinks one of the café’s most photographed experiences. Customers regularly post photos and Instagram Stories to capture the moment and share it with friends.
Six years later, the magic still hasn’t faded
When Pink Dot first introduced the Ripple Maker latte art printer, guests could hardly believe what they were seeing.
“People would constantly ask, ‘How do you do that?’ because they had never seen anything like it before.”
Remarkably, six years later, those conversations continue. Guests still gather around the coffee bar to watch drinks being printed and ask questions about the technology behind them.
Over time, many customers have begun requesting personalized drinks featuring their own names, company logos, and special messages.
“I believe this is the real magic of Ripples,” she says. “It transforms an ordinary coffee into a personal memory, a conversation starter, and something people genuinely remember long after they leave the café.”
When coffee becomes part of a luxury brand experience
The Ripple Maker drink printer has also become an important part of Pink Dot’s partnerships with major beauty and lifestyle brands. Located inside Hondos Center Apollonia Politia, the café regularly collaborates on experiential campaigns that connect hospitality with retail.
One standout example was a Lancôme activation.
Guests received coffees featuring Lancôme-inspired prints alongside samples of La Vie Est Belle fragrance. The experience encouraged visitors to explore the beauty department after finishing their drinks, creating a seamless journey from café to retail.
“It was a beautiful combination of hospitality, storytelling, and product discovery,” she says.
Rather than simply promoting a product, the coffee became part of the campaign itself. The guest enjoyed an unexpected surprise, the brand gained meaningful exposure, and the department store benefited from increased traffic and engagement.
Looking beyond coffee
Pink Dot’s story is still evolving.
The team is preparing to open Darling Riviera, a luxury Mediterranean restaurant inspired by the elegance of St. Tropez. Surrounded by 27 palm trees and overlooking the water, the new venue will introduce Ripple printing to cocktails and signature drinks, using sunset-inspired artwork, elegant illustrations, and personalized designs that reflect its Riviera atmosphere.
For Pink Dot, it’s simply the next chapter in finding new ways to surprise guests through thoughtful hospitality.
Lessons for cafés
Design with intention. Every memorable café experience begins long before the first drink is served.
Think beyond coffee. Guests remember how a place makes them feel as much as what they ordered.
Keep the experience fresh. Rotating seasonal artwork gives customers a reason to return throughout the year.
Personalization creates emotional connections. A printed name, message, or design can transform an everyday coffee into a lasting memory.
Use hospitality to support partnerships. Pink Dot has shown how drink printing can strengthen collaborations with luxury and lifestyle brands while creating memorable experiences for guests.
