4 Eco-Friendly Coffee Shop Trends

Earth Day design on coffee
In honor of Earth Day, we’ve gathered some of our favorite sustainability trends from coffee shops around the world – small, impactful steps that can make a real difference.
  1. Composting  If you haven’t started yet, this is an excellent way to tip your toe into the eco-friendly waters. Simply reaching out to local growers and diverting your used coffee grounds to them is a great first step to create less landfill waste.
2. Eco-friendly packaging Ditching single use plastic would make a big, visible impact that your customers will notice and support. According to Firstinsight (2020), most Gen Z shoppers prefer to buy sustainable brands and are willing to spend an average of 10% more on those products. 3. Offer plant-based milks Animal agriculture is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and uses a significant amount of land and water. By offering plant-based milk alternatives like almond, soy, or oat milk, coffee shops can reduce their impact on the environment and offer more options for customers with dietary restrictions.Stumptown Coffee Roasters has even announced it will serve oat milk as the default for every milk-paired beverage across the entire chain.
4. Print Content for a Cause – and join our campaign!Everyone loves a latte with a little flair, so why not print fun earth-friendly messages on top of your foam? Not only will your customers love the creativity, but it’s a fun and easy way to spread awareness about sustainable causes you care about. DRINKS FOR THE FISHESFor Earth Day 2023, we’re excited to partner with one of our favorite local non-profits, Zalul. They’re committed to cleaning up Israel’s rivers and oceans and their founder, Benjamin Kahn, was named a Hero of the Environment by TIME magazine.Between April 21 and May 6 2023, we’re going to donate 10¢ to this fantastic organization for every Ripples print from our “Earth Day and Oceans” collection. Every print from the channel will mean ten cents to the organization.Don’t have a Ripple Maker yet? Use the Ripples WebApp to find a participating venue to get a drink that supports fish and coral reef conservation.
